Haunted UT

Haunted places in Utah

Utah's railroad and theater history comes with ghost stories, especially in Salt Lake City and the old rail hub of Ogden.

Rio Grande Depot

Historic train station Salt Lake City, UT

The depot opened in 1910 for the Denver & Rio Grande Western Railroad. Its best-known legend is the "Purple Lady," a woman said to haunt the building after an argument on the platform ended in tragedy.

Visiting: Currently closed to the public; admire the building from outside.

Peery's Egyptian Theater

Historic theater Ogden, UT

This Egyptian Revival movie palace opened in 1924 and was restored in the 1990s. Staff and patrons report shadowy figures, footsteps and a mysterious woman seen on the balcony.

Visiting: Working theater hosting films, concerts and events.

Ghost stories are shared as folklore. Hours, tours and access change — always check with the site before you go, and never enter private or closed property.
