Haunted places in Indiana

Indiana ghost stories favor quiet places: a public library with a famous lady in gray and a lone country inn in the hills of Brown County.

Willard Library

Public library Evansville, IN

Willard Library opened in 1885 and is the oldest public library building in Indiana. A custodian reported a "Grey Lady" in the 1930s, and sightings have been shared ever since, enough that the library once set up online cameras for ghost watchers.

Visiting: Public library open regular hours; ask staff about the Grey Lady.

Story Inn

Historic inn Nashville (Story), IN

The inn occupies a former general store, one of the few buildings left from the small village of Story in Brown County. Guests in the Blue Lady Room report a woman with blue eyes and the smell of cherry tobacco, and past owners kept logs of sightings.

Visiting: Operating inn and restaurant; book the Blue Lady Room if you dare.Official site →
